About the paid apps

IBO Player Pro, Hot Player and Bob Player each ship with a free trial. Install one, load the playlist, test it properly before committing. When the trial ends you pay that developer on their own site, not us. Tap any card for the exact steps.

XOTT IPTV player app logo for Samsung, LG and Sony smart TV setup

App 1 of 7

Free

XOTT

XOTT is the sensible free starting point for a Smart TV IPTV trial in the UK. It comes straight out of the Samsung or LG store, shows a MAC address the first time it opens, and once we attach your playlist to that MAC the channels are simply there next time you launch it. Nothing gets typed into a TV remote, which is the part everybody dreads.

Supported TVs

Samsung Tizen · LG WebOS · some Android TVs

Step-by-step

  1. 1

Install XOTT from the TV store

Samsung: open Smart Hub. LG: open the Content Store. Search XOTT and install it. It is free.

  2. 2

Open it and note the MAC

Launch the app. The welcome screen shows a MAC in the form 00:1A:79:XX:XX:XX. Photograph it, because that string is how the server identifies your set.

  3. 3

    Send the MAC to us

WhatsApp it across with your order name. We attach your personal M3U playlist to the XOTT server against it, usually within a few minutes.

  4. 4

    Reopen and watch

Close XOTT completely and launch it again. UK channels, sport, films and box sets load with a populated EPG behind them.

IBO Player Pro IPTV app logo for Samsung, LG and Sony smart TV setup

App 2 of 7

Paid app

IBO Player Pro

≈ €8 lifetime · 7-day free trial

IBO Player Pro is the most polished paid player on a smart TV. Seven days free is included, which is comfortably long enough to test a full IPTV UK trial line-up, and if you keep it a single payment of roughly EUR 8 unlocks that television permanently. The layout is close to Netflix, with per-category posters, a fast guide and catch-up support.

Supported TVs

Samsung Tizen · LG WebOS · Android TV · Fire TV · Apple TV · Windows

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Install IBO Player Pro

Search the Samsung or LG store for IBO Player Pro. On some older sets it is listed simply as IBO Player.

  2. 2

Note the Device Key and the MAC

Open it. The first screen shows both a Device Key and a MAC address, and both are needed. One photo covers it.

  3. 3

    Send both across

WhatsApp the Device Key and MAC together. We attach your playlist to them and confirm when it is live, generally within ten minutes.

  4. 4

Use the free week, then unlock it

Seven days free from that point. To keep it, go to iboproapp.com, enter the same Device Key and MAC, and pay the one-off lifetime fee. The playlist carries on unchanged.

Tip

  • IBO takes payment directly on their own site. It is entirely separate from your IPTV subscription with us.
Hot Player / Hot IPTV app logo for Samsung, LG and Sony smart TV setup

App 3 of 7

Paid app

Hot Player / Hot IPTV

€5.99/yr · €14.99 lifetime · 30-day free trial

Hot Player has the longest free trial here by a distance at thirty days, which pairs neatly with a monthly IPTV trial. It works from an M3U URL rather than a direct MAC attachment, so the playlist link gets uploaded on the Hot Player site against your television MAC and the app collects it from there.

Log in via

M3U playlist URL (uploaded at hotplayer.app/upload)

Supported TVs

Samsung Tizen · LG WebOS · Android TV · Fire TV · Apple TV · iOS · Windows

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Install Hot Player

Search Hot Player or Hot IPTV in the Samsung or LG store. Install it and open it once so the MAC appears.

  2. 2

    Send the MAC across

WhatsApp it to us and we generate a personal M3U playlist URL against your account.

  3. 3

    Upload at hotplayer.app/upload

Open hotplayer.app/upload in any browser, enter the MAC, paste the M3U URL we sent back, and save it.

  4. 4

    Restart the app

Reopen Hot Player on the television and the channels appear. Thirty days free, then EUR 5.99 a year or EUR 14.99 for life at hotplayer.app/activation.

Tip

  • Two pages, easily mixed up: /upload takes the playlist and is free during the trial. /activation is where payment happens once the thirty days run out.
Bob Player IPTV app logo for Samsung, LG and Sony smart TV setup

App 4 of 7

Paid app

Bob Player

≈ €8/yr · €13 lifetime

Bob Player is the stripped-back alternative to IBO: cheaper for life at around EUR 13 one-off, MAC-based like the others, and with a short trial so the feed can be tested before anything is paid. The people who prefer it generally prefer it for the same reason: there is almost nothing in the interface.

Smart IPTV (SIPTV) player app logo for Samsung, LG and Sony smart TV setup

App 5 of 7

Paid app

Smart IPTV (SIPTV)

€5.49 lifetime · 7-day free trial

Smart IPTV, usually shortened to SIPTV, is the veteran of this category. It is the app most UK providers reference in their documentation, ours included. It also carries the cheapest lifetime price on this list and remains the most dependable long-term option on older Samsung and LG hardware.

Supported TVs

Samsung Tizen · LG WebOS · Android TV

Launch the app. The MAC address is printed on the welcome screen.

  3. 3

    Send us the MAC

Set IPTV player app logo for Samsung, LG and Sony smart TV setup

App 6 of 7

Paid app

Set IPTV

$6.99/yr · 7-day free trial

Set IPTV behaves identically to Smart IPTV, using a MAC-based M3U upload through a web portal, but has noticeably better support for the newest Samsung Tizen and LG WebOS 6 and 7 sets, where SIPTV has grown unreliable.

Smarters Player Lite IPTV app logo for Samsung, LG and Sony smart TV setup

App 7 of 7

Free

Smarters Player Lite

Smarters Player Lite is the free official Tizen build of the Smarters app. Instead of a MAC upload it signs in directly with Xtream Codes, the same username, password and server URL Fire Stick and Apple TV users get, which makes it the quickest of every smart TV app to activate, because nobody on our side has to do anything.

Log in via

Any nickname you like, then the username, password and server URL from your welcome message. Save.

  4. 4

Which Smart TV IPTV app is the best in 2026?

For something entirely free, XOTT is the best place to start: MAC upload, clean interface, and it works on both Samsung Tizen and LG WebOS. If a one-off payment is acceptable, IBO Player Pro at roughly EUR 8 for life is the smoothest paid app, and Hot Player carries the longest free trial at thirty days. All three take our iptv uk trial credentials.

Do I have to pay for an app as well as the subscription?

No. XOTT and Smarters Player Lite cost nothing at all. IBO Player Pro, Hot Player and Bob Player each include a free trial of seven to thirty days. Install one, load the playlist and test it properly. If you keep it, you pay that developer on their own site: iboproapp.com, hotplayer.app/activation or bobplayer.com/login. None of that money comes to us and none of it affects your subscription.

Will these apps work on my Samsung / LG / Sony?

On the large majority, yes. Samsung Tizen from 2018 runs everything listed here. LG WebOS 4 and later runs XOTT, IBO, Hot Player, Bob Player, Smart IPTV and Set IPTV. Sony sets run Android TV, so they use the Google Play builds of the same apps. Anything pre-2016 is a lost cause and the fix is a Fire TV Stick 4K Max in a spare HDMI port, and our Fire Stick guide covers it.

What is a MAC address and where do I find it?

A MAC address is a unique twelve-character identifier, something like 00:1A:79:AB:CD:EF, that tells the app server which television is asking. Every smart TV IPTV app displays it on the welcome screen the first time it opens. Photograph it, send it over, and we attach your personal playlist to it, which is how you avoid typing a long URL with a remote control.

Do these Smart TV apps support 4K IPTV?

Yes. XOTT, IBO Player Pro, Hot Player, Bob Player and Smarters Player Lite all handle 4K HEVC on any set with a 4K panel and a connection to match, for which we would want 25 Mbps or better. Use Ethernet rather than wifi if the socket is anywhere near the television.

How long does the whole Smart TV setup take?

Under ten minutes from start to finish. Installing the app takes a minute or two, reading the MAC takes thirty seconds, sending it to us takes another thirty, our upload is usually two to five minutes, and then you reload and watch. Every GetTV IPTV UK trial customer follows exactly that sequence on their first day.

What if my TV can't find any of these IPTV apps?

Some Samsung and LG regions have pulled Smart IPTV and Set IPTV from their stores. Where that has happened, try XOTT and IBO Player Pro first, since both are present in every UK region. If none of them will install, the cheapest fix is a £59 Fire TV Stick 4K Max in a spare HDMI port, and our Fire Stick guide walks that through.
